Laredo remains undefeated on the season after their combination of solid defense and strong batting helped them notch a huge 11-1 win against Fargo-Moorhead. The Lemurs scored six runs in the first inning and never looked back. C Brian Peterson (pictured) had a great day at bat, going 4-of-5 with three runs to lead the Lemurs to their big victory. 1B Mike Sheridan and LF Marcos Rodriguez also made big contributions with two runs each.

The Winnipeg Goldeyes continued their fantastic start to the 2013 season as they improved their record to 7-0 on the season with a 4-1 victory over the Lincoln Saltdogs. Winnipeg had 11 hits on the night with four players having multi-hit games. Goldeyes DH Leonard Davis (pictured) went 2-for-2 with two doubles and a run scored while C Luis Alen had two hits and drove in a run.

Elsewhere, St. Paul swept a doubleheader from Sioux Falls (9-1/Game 1 & 10-8/Game 2), Grand Prairie doubled up Amarillo 6-3 and in interleague play the New Jersey Jackals of the Can-Am League edged Wichita 1-0.

Lightning can strike twice. Twice in the same week, to be more precise.

It was two days before Chris Colabello got his first major league opportunity that teammate and fellow Independent Baseball graduate Caleb Thielbar was summoned from the same Rochester Red Wings to join the Minnesota Twins.

Lincoln RF Stephen Douglas (pictured) was the main cog in the Saltdogs’ win over Kansas City. Douglas went 4-for-5 with a three run home run and a stolen base, as Lincoln beat the T-Bones, 6-3.

Elsewhere in the American Association, Winnipeg swept a doubleheader against Amarillo, winning the first 2-1 in eight innings and the second 5-0 in seven; Sioux City beat interleague opponent New Jersey of the Can-Am League, 12-4; Fargo-Moorhead beat El Paso, 8-4; St. Paul vs. Sioux Falls was postponed due to weather.

Lemurs RHP Mark Serrano (pictured) continued his strong start to the 2013 season this afternoon. The righty allowed two runs and struck out seven batters over six innings to beat Grand Prairie, 8-2. With the win, Serrano improved to 3-0, giving him the hottest start of any American Association pitcher.

Elsewhere in the American Association, Wichita beat Gary SouthShore 5-1, after a one hour, 42 minute rain delay in the eighth.

In an entertaining evening of games, Sioux Falls starter Ben Moore (pictured) won his 40th career American Association game, a league record, as the Canaries defeat St. Paul, 7-4.

Elsewhere, Lincoln built a 5-1 lead and held off a Kansas City rally to win, 5-4, while Laredo CF Sawyer Carroll hit a two-out walk-off home run to help his team defeat Grand Prairie, 4-3 and improve its record to 6-0. Amarillo and Winnipeg were rained out and will play a doubleheader Wednesday.
