The R-Phils Mascots | The R-Phils Mascot Band

National Penn Bank R-Phils Mascot Band

One summer night back in 2002 something special happened at FirstEnergy Stadium.  It was the introduction of the Mascot Band.  Before Quack took the stage that night, mascots were just known for being wild and crazy on field entertainers.  It was thought that mascots did not have the ability to speak, let alone sing.  This was the dawn of a whole new mascot team.  The Immix Wireless Reading Phillies Mascot Band.

This band is led by Quack the Rubber Ducky, who brings a splash of every type of music to his performance.  He is lead vocalist and guitarist.  During concerts, Quack likes to pick out a lucky fan from the crowd the help with guitar riffs.  This is what has made Quack a fan favorite for band members.

The rest of the band features Bucky the Beaver on bass, Blooper the Hound Dog on the keyboard, and Change-Up the Turtle on the bongos.  The band would not be complete if it did not feature the wacky mascot from Llabesab, Screwball.  Although he is is usually in the back of the stage, Screwball can always be heard.  He is known for his incredible drum solo at the end of the first set.  He may seem wacky, crazy, and sometimes uncontrollable during the games, but his is nothing but great when he is behind a drum set.

With all famous rock bands, controversy lurks around every corner.  Legend has it that the band had the plug pulled on one of their own shows in 2006 after they tried to play following a Bob Dylan concert at FirstEnergy Stadium.   The tale will go down as one of the funniest in Mascot Band history.

Some people think there is some kind of trick to this band, but when you see them in person, you will realize that this is no smoke and mirrors show. It’s giant, lovable mascots playing and singing great tunes – and it’s fun! The music is well presented and the mascots are hilarious.
